Jared Leto Shares Haunting First Look At 'Morbius' Living



Morbius joins Spider-Man and Venom in Sony's Marvel universe. Sony Pictures seems ready to take a page from Marvel Studios' playbook by expanding their own Universe of Marvel Characters beyond the big screen and into the realm of television as they convert their Silver & Black project into a TV series. At one point in the trailer, we see Jared Leto's Michael Morbius walking through an alley in an orange jumpsuit.

Morbius and Venom are both owned by Sony, at least in terms of movie adaptations. Oddly enough, at one point, many thought Life was going to turn out to be a secret prequel to Venom, which kicked off Sony's Spidey spin-off universe. Morbius follows Leto as Dr. Michael Morbius, who is a scientist whose attempt to cure himself of a blood disease leads to him developing vampire-like powers.

But Simmons didn't take up the role again in live-action form until Spider-Man: Far From Home in a surprise cameo at the end of the film. The connection between the MCU and the Sony Universe of Marvel Characters is beginning to form. Morbius is another of Sony's ventures that's a spinoff of their larger Spider-Verse.

Michael Morbius wasn't alone when he created the treatment for his blood condition. Sneak peeks at Morbius have been few and far between, so this first trailer is our first true-blue look at what we can expect from Leto's second attempt to crack playing a comic book character.

Even though Morbius has frequent encounters with Spider-Man in the comics, he will not be considered a part of the MCU Sony still owns the right to Spider-Man and many other characters associated with him, and Collectibles & Funko Pop News while Marvel struck a deal to bring Spidey into its cinematic universe starting with Captain America: Civil War, the rest of Sony's comic-book characters aren't included.

After Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” hits theaters, Marvel is expected to release a new Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland. Leto has made a habit of playing conflicted comic book villains, following his role as the Joker in Suicide Squad. This year will see Sony expand their Spider-man spin-off-verse by bringing creepy anti-hero Morbius to the big screen for the first time.
